AdvanceTime is a core mod that allows an administrator to change the day length. This is accomplished with the enhanced '/time' command. A player can tell the current time using the digital clock item.

The new time mechanics makes it where time can only go forward. This is because there is an in-game date system; a player can tell what day it is using the calendar item.

Sleeping in a bed no longer instantly starts a new day. Instead, time will pass faster through the night.

When a player joins a server that has AdvanceTime installed, it will display the player's total game play time and the amount of in-game days that have passed.

Server logs will display the total number of ticks that lagged during any given second. AdvanceTime removes the 'time gone backwards' log message.
Also, the server will synchronize players every minute instead of every second, thus reducing network traffic.

For modders, there is an API to get an interface to AdvanceTime. This allows your mod to get the current day length tick amongst other things. The methods used in the API will work even if AdvanceTime is not installed.

Administrator Time Command

/time
/time [get, set] [value, morning, day, noon, evening, night, midnight]
/time [get, set] daylength [value]
/time add [value]

Note: [value] is in ticks; where there are 20 ticks for every second. Default day length is 24000 ticks.
Note: All time commands can have "dimension [id]" appended to the end in order to modify specific dimensions.
