What is Consistency+?

Consistency+ is a Fabric mod for 1.17.x+ making blocks consistent in what variants they have.

What is added by the mod?

We plan to add in blocks that could be considered "missing."  For example, Quartz bricks do not have slabs or stairs, whereas other brick types do.  This is just one small example of the vast scope of this mod.

How much has been added so far?

As of 0.3.0, we currently have about 720 new blocks.  Many are missing crafting recipes, so please keep in mind that for now it is recommended to use the mod in Creative mode. All missing recipes will be in the mod by release 1.0, but for now our priority is mainly on adding the blocks themselves.

How do you guys add so much?

One of our team members has developed a program that can generate blockstate files, block models, loot tables, recipes, and more at the press of a button. This substantially speeds up development of the mod, allowing us to have added over 700 blocks as of 0.3

What block variants will be in the mod?

The following main block sets will be given variants:

• Light Prismarine (New to C+, Not final, could be cut)
• Copper (potentially the other metals too, not final)

• Crying Obsidian

The following variants will be added:

• Smooth*^
• Cut*^
• Tiles*^
• Polished*^
• Bricks*^
• Pillars^
• Corner Pillars^ (New to C+, 6 sided pillar with top texture)

• Carved^ (New to C+)

*: Will have slabs, stairs, and walls

^: Will have mossy and cracked versions

Anything Else?

• More Dyeable things, such as

  2. Dyed glowstone
  3. Dyed Tinted Glass
• Soul Jack'O'Lanterns
• More random blocks we feel like adding as development continues

When is it going to be finished?

Eventually. We have no ETA on when it will be done, but we may post release-related announcements in our discord or in the Fabric Project discord.

Could you guys add [​Thing]?

If you have an idea on something we could add, you can put it as a suggestion on our github, or even code it in yourself!  If you are interested in joining the team, we are always looking for people willing to help us make the mod, whether that be adding the blocks, making the textures, or contributing in other ways such as helping with translations.  We may make a "megathread" for block suggestions at some point where people can freely suggest blocks for us to add.

How many blocks are you going to add?

Too many.  We currently do not have a final count due to constant roadmap changes regarding how far we want to take the concept (Spoiler alert, we like to go overkill), so the final block count will almost certainly fluctuate often.  It will likely be at least triple what is currently added.

Will the blocks have CTM (Connected Texture Mapping) support?

We do have plans for CTM support for certain block types, although we have ran into some issues in doing so. Optifine's CTM does not currently work on modded blocks, so we would have to use other connected texture mods to make this work.  We want to do it, but are running into difficulties implementing it.

Will you be making a Forge/Bedrock/Older version (1.12/1.8) port?

We have looked into making ports of the mod, but it remains uncertain if we will.  We would prefer to stay on Fabric (and possibly move to Quilt once it provides benefits that would help our mod), but may look into porting to other modloaders, older versions, or other versions of Minecraft.  

How do I contribute?

The best way to get in contact with us is through our discord.  This is how our team first gathered, and where we announce stuff/talk about the mod the most.  If you want to contribute, you can talk to us there, as we are always looking for people willing to help out, as this is a very ambitious project

What's next for Consistency+

We don't always have a clear picture of what we add next, as many things tend to get thrown in last minute just for fun.  We plan on focusing 0.4 on 1.17 blocks, and some of the 1.16- groups we haven't touched much yet, such as Terracotta, Concrete, Obsidian, etc.  Again, for more details on what may be coming next, feel free to join our discord, or take a peek at our github.
