This mod is for the Fabric Mod Loader and 

This mod lets you configure the vanilla Dispenser to work with any item's use (right-click) functionality. 

Configuration is done via a new data type loaded through datapacks: "dispenser_configurator".

In a "dispenser_configurator", you can define a list of items and item tags you wish to have functionality in Dispensers. 
Minecraft has several ways of handling item usage (5), so a "dispenser_configurator" can optionally specify a "target" list that limits how it should use its items. 

I've created a "Default Dispenser Configurators" datapack that contains configurators I've tested and that I think fit well into Vanilla+ Minecraft. 
All the behaviors it contains are explained here. 
It can also serve as an example for anyone who wants to create their own "dispenser_configurator" datapack.

In a server environment, this mod is only required server-side, clients do not need it. 

Known issues: 
- the "ITEM_USE" target doesn't behave desirably for all items in all situations. 
- when enabling a datapack that contains a "dispenser_configurator", you may need to run /reload afterward for it to load properly. Fixed as of 1.0.2

This mod is only for Fabric and I won't be porting it to Forge. The license is MIT, however, so anyone else is free to port it.
