Gods and Favor
The Greek gods will now reward or punish you according to your favor! Start by crafting a mirror (one gold ingot and one glass pane) and an Altar (one marble statue and an item corresponding to the god or goddess). Use the mirror to see your favor with each god, the items you can offer to gain or lose favor, the mobs that you can kill to gain or lose favor, and the mobs that are hostile when you have certain levels of favor. Place the altar to offer items and obtain special enchantments.
The two ways to gain favor are to (1) give items to an altar or (2) kill specific creatures
Some things to remember:
- Gods will do occasionally do special things for you. Depending on your level of favor, they may grant potion effects, give items, spawn enemies, help you in combat, grow crops, and more!
- Some hostile mobs become neutral (and some neutral mobs become hostile) depending on your favor level
- Some mobs run away from players with certain favor levels
- Some enchantments are only available by gaining level 10 favor (see "Other Additions")
- Favor slowly depletes over time (you lose about 8 favor points per day)
The following gods and goddesses are currently enabled:
- Apollo
- Artemis
- Hades
- Hera
- Hermes
- Persephone
- Poseidon
- Zeus
God textures by dandmaster1
Other Additions:
Potion Effects:
- Stunned – prevents the player from moving, jumping, or using items for a short time. Check the config to change this.
- Petrified – similar to stunned but way scarier
- Mirror – grants immunity to Gorgon gaze attacks.
- Curse of Swine – turns players into pigs.
Enchantments:
- Overstep – apply to boots; removes the need for jumping up single blocks.
- Hunting – apply to axes and swords; has a chance to instantly kill breed-able animals such as cows, pigs, sheep, wolves, etc.
- Smashing – only found on clubs dropped by a Geryon. Smashes and stuns enemies.
- Mirror – apply to shields; grants immunity to Gorgon gaze attacks.
- Fireflash – apply to thunderbolts by giving them to an Altar to Zeus at level 10; causes explosions when summoning lightning.
- Lord of the Sea – apply to tridents by giving them to an Altar to Poseidon at level 10; summon a powerful Whirl by left-clicking while looking at a body of water.
- Raising – apply to bidents by giving them to an Altar to Hades at level 10; summon a short-lived but loyal Sparti warrior.
- Flying – apply to Winged Sandals by giving them to an Altar to Hermes at level 10; allows creative-style flight.
- Daybreak – apply to clocks by giving them to an Altar to Apollo at level 10; using an enchanted clock turns night to day.
- Silkstep – apply to boots; enchanted book is dropped by Arachne; allows walking through cobwebs without hinderance.
Customization:
Here is a link to the wiki which has a more information and examples on datapack support. An example datapack can be downloaded from the wiki or the "Additional Files" section of Forge downloads.
Config:
The config file for this mod gives modpack creators plenty of control over the mod. Customizable options include special item abilities, potion effects and enchantments, mob spawn chances/biomes, mob special attacks, and structure generation chances/biomes.
Mysterious Box:
The mysterious box uses .mcfunction files to decide what happens when they're opened. This means a datapack can add .mcfunction files and they will be used as well. The files must be located at "data/[namespace]/functions/mysterious_box/[function_name].mcfunction".
Music:
The songs that can be played on a panflute or lyre are loaded through datapacks. Users can add their own songs in a JSON format and save it as "data/[namespace]/songs/[song_name].json". The JSON file must specify a name and credits (or translation keys), the interval between each beat, the total number of beats, and one or two arrays of notes to play (from 0-24 where 0 means "no note").
Favor:
Each of the gods can be fully customized! Users can adjust each deity using a datapack. The JSON file for a deity contains the deity's name, gender, the items held by that deity's altar, the random effects granted by the deity, and the favor modifiers for each item or mob.
In addition, the use of favor can be configured using a special JSON file located at "data/greekfantasy/favor_configuration/favor_configuration.json". This file controls when mobs are hostile toward the player, which deity controls special enchantments, and a plethora of special abilities! Datapacks can customize this by following the wiki.

FAQ:
Q: Forge or Fabric?
A: Forge only. Sorry.
Q: Can I use the mod in a modpack?
A: If at all possible, please link to the MinecraftPatch page instead of redistributing the mod. Modpacks are perfectly fine if they follow this rule.
Q: Can I request a feature?
A: Please do! I have lots of ideas but not always a good way to implement them. Your suggestions can be very helpful. That said, I won't add a feature unless I think it fits.
Q: Do you have a Discord?
A: You can find me on the MMD server in the #skyjay-mods channel (under "Community Mods")
Q: Will you backport the mod to any other versions?
A: Possibly. This mod is currently only available for 1.16.3 and above. If you want a backport, let me know! I'm willing to backport the mod but nothing older than 1.15.2.
