Music Triggers

This mod will let you play music based on in game triggers.

Hasn't this been done before?

Yes, both Ambience – Extras and Actual Music 5 (via Embassy) both do the same thing.

Then why make this mod?

From my experience, both of the mods mentioned above are buggy and/or crash to the point where I could not include them in a modpack and label it as stable. This mod tries to be easy to use and to just work. I am also a very active dev, so once this mod is in a more finished & tested state, I will work on porting it to 1.16.5 and then 1.17.1

The differences

This mod does everything through the config. You put the songs in the correct generated folder and add the song names to the correct section of the conifg file which is already laid out for you. In addition, all of the songs actually get registered as sounds in game, so music discs will be generated for all the songs you put in. This does, however, mean you have to restart your game to make any song/config changes. Here are a list of issues from the other 2 mods that are not present in this one.

– You do not have to be on windows to use it (Actual Music 5 issue)

– It does not care whether or not you have English characters in the file name (Actual Music 5 issue)

– It does not randomly crash your jvm (Actual Music 5 issue)

– The music does not reset/skip when you attack a mob without battle music set (ambience issue)

– You can customize the priority for any event, meaning no weird issues with priorities (ambience issue)

– You can set dimension specific events for the overworld with dimension 0 (ambience issue)

– The music will not randomly stop, unless you have no songs set for the current events playing or generic (ambience issue)

How to use this mod

– Run the game once to generate all the necessary config files & folders

– Make sure all your music files are ogg files, as that is the only sound type Minecraft will read

– All music files go in config/MusicTriggers/songs/assets/musictriggers/sounds/music
– To tie a song to an trigger, go to the config file (config/MusicTriggers/musictriggers.cfg) and add the song name (dont include the .ogg ending) under where it says songs

– To combine multiple triggers, add '@' before the song name (in the config file only) and put that under all the triggers that need to be active. These will not play for the individual triggers they are under unless you do it for a single trigger only

– The menu and generic trigger cannot be combined with any others

– The dimension, biome, structure, and mob triggers require special formatting! See the examples included in the config file for more information

– Make sure the config folders are the same on both the client and server side (including the music files)
– This mod does not silence the vanilla music! Use a resource pack to do that!

– Menu (title screen)

– Generic (fallback trigger)

– day

– night

– sunrise

– sunset

– light (light level)

– underground (under y 55 and cannot see the sky)

– deepunder (under y 20 and cannot see the sky)

– raining

– storming

– snowing

– low hp (configurable, default is 30% of your total health)

– dead

– void (under y 0)

– creative

– spectator

– riding

– pet (Current implementation is if there is any pet within a 16 block radius. This is subject to change)

– high (configurable, default is above y 150)

Special event triggers (see config for implementation)

– dimension

– biome (There may be a small chance of crashing when crossing into a biome with a song set. Open an issue if this happens)

– structure (currently will not run on servers)

– mob (This event is for handling hordes, bosses, and anything mob related. Number of mobs is configurable by mob. The search range will be configurable soon, to account for bosses further than 16 blocks away)

Known Issues

– The structure event currently does not activate on servers

– The music discs have no models (and therefore no textures)

– The mod does not currently detect when a jukebox is playing, making records useless as the music will not stop playing

Possible Upcoming Additions

– Have custom title cards and/or images that can be shown for the triggers

– Include some debug options in the config

– Have songs be able to fade in/out, configurable per trigger

– Support for gamestages
