About Neapolitan PBR
Neapolitan PBR adds normal maps and specular maps to many of Minecraft's default textures, using the Lab PBR format. It features support for connected textures as well (currently only sandstone and bookshelves). It requires Optifine and a shaderpack with support for either parallax occlusion maps, specular maps, or both. The resource pack currently works in 1.16.1, 1.15.2, and 1.14.4, but I will add support for 1.8 and 1.12 (some other versions will also be included by default) for modders and PVPers (keep in mind though that these will use the textures from the 1.14 texture update, I might completely remake my resource pack for the old textures someday but it would take a lot longer). You can probably expect the full release of Neapolitan PBR some time in November, with the backported versions in late 2020 or early 2021 but I can't guarantee anything due to having school work. I can pretty much guarantee that it won't come any later than the end of 2020 though, and that the 1.8 and 1.12 versions will be out before the release of 1.17.
I also plan to add more textures for 1.17 whenever the first prereleases of Optifine 1.17 come out in mid-2021, including:
Amethyst and crystal block
Copper ore and block variants + the lightning rod
New unnamed cave blocks that appeared in the trailer
Stalactites and stalagmites
I may also add textures for popular mods like Twilight Forest if I have some extra time in early 2021, or if demand for it becomes popular.
Shader Support:
Only Normal Maps: Sildur's Vibrant, Sildur's Enhanced Default, Chocapic13
Full PBR support: BSL, Complementary, Continuum, Kappa, SEUS Renewed, SEUS PTGI (not tested)
For good looking reflections + depth and good performance, use the latest version of BSL or Complementary Shaders on 1.16.3, as BSL v 7.2 on 1.16.3 is the shaderpack and version I use to develop Neapolitan PBR.
SEUS PTGI, SEUS Renewed, Kappa, and Continuum are good options if you don't care as much about POMs or performance (or have a super computer) but want better reflections with normal maps.
SIldur's Vibrant and Chocapic13 are good options if you want to preserve performance and don't care at all about reflections, but still like the feel of a more advanced shaderpack with POMs.
Sildur's Enhanced Default is a good option for those with low-end computers who still want the depth that POMs give with basic shadows and anti-aliasing.
Known Issues:
Some of the parallax occlusion maps don't render properly in SEUS Renewed, including netherrack, and smokers. I'll try to fix this at some point if I can.
SEUS renewed and some other shaders don't properly support multiple different resolutions for POMs, meaning that unfortunately there will be artifacts on certain blocks.
If you want to use this pack with SEUS Renewed or some of those other shaders, set the texture pack resolution to 16 for minimal artifacts.
