Owl’s Ultimate QoL is a simple data pack that I made for myself to make the game more fun and fair. It makes almost all items except those that I consider throphy items renewable, mostly through crafting but also through special drops. I also added recipes/drops for items that are hardly renewable, like sand and red sand, to make the game less  frustrating and grindy. As I said above, this pack was made for me and I never had an intention to publish it, but I thought that some of you might enjoy it. Feel free to remove recipes or drops that you think are unfair, or edit existing ones. As long as you don’t publish that edited copy, that’s fine with me. There’s also pictures of how to to use the various recipes I added. Anyway, let’s get in the specifics shall we?

~~ Craftables and Smeltables ~~

~~ Craftable Ore Blocks ~~
Ore blocks, including the stone, deepslate and nether variants are now craftable! Add the corresponding block of ore in the middle (ex. block of diamond) and surround it with stone, deepslate or netherrack to make the ore block.  I made it so that it’s a block of ore and not just one ore so that you can’t dupe materials using a fortune pickaxe. Gilded blackstone is also craftable in the same way. However, copper and lapis ore blocks are made with a cross shape of blocks of copper since a single copper or lapis ore block can more than 9 ores with the right enchantment, and would make duping those materials really easy.

~~ Craftable Bundles ~~

Bundles, everyone’s favorite unobtainable item! For some reason, you can’t get it in survival without cheats even though it works perfectly fine. To craft it, add string to the top left and top right and add leather or rabbit hide everywhere else except the middle. This part will get removed once 1.20 releases since it should make the bundle obtainable in survival.

~~ Repairable Anvils ~~
Anvils are pretty expensive early game, and since they tend to break very fast, I added a recipe to repair it with less materials. Just add the chipped or damaged anvil on the first slot of the smithing table and a block of iron in the other to get a fully repaired anvil. It also gives another use to an underused crafting station.

~~ Craftable Finite Stones ~~
Deepslate, tuff, calcite and netherack, while abundant, are finite resources. Similarly to granite, diorite and andesite, you can now craft them! Deepslate is made of blackstone and stone, cobbled deepslate is made of blackstone You can put it anywhere on the crafting grid cobblestone, tuff is made of deepslate/cobbled deepslate and stone/cobblestone, calcite is made of diorite and amethyst or by blasting diorite (putting it in a blast furnace) and netherrack is made of cobblestone and a nether wart.

~~ Smelt Diamond Gear ~~
But wait! Diamond ore blocks may be craftable, but if diamonds aren’t renewable, neither are the ore blocks or jukeboxes. Now, you can smelt your diamond armor or tools into a diamond, just like you can do with iron and gold armor. This makes diamonds renewable, since diamond gear can be bought from villagers. Now, it might be a little diamond gear + fuel = diamond overpowered since it gives a full diamond instead of a ninth of it like iron and gold does, but for now this is the only option since you can’t add new items with datapacks as far as I know.

~~ Craftable Tall Grass/Fern/Seagrass ~~
Tall seagrass is already renewable, but tall grass and tall fern is only obtainable through village chests, so now you can craft all three types by placing two grass/ferns/seagrass on top of eachother. The block form is already renewable, so I have no idea how the item could be useful apart from item museums, but whatever.

~~ Craftable Dead Bushes ~~
Well, not exactly craftable. Just smelt an azalea or flowering azalea in a furnace to get the dead bush. Simple

~~ Craftable Echo Shard ~~
The Rascal, the only mob that had a chance to intoduce renewable echo shards, lost, and so we need to find another way to make them renewable. Now, you can craft them using two sculk blocks with a sculk catalyst in the middle in a pillar formation. That way, you still need to visit the deep dark to be able to get them.

~~ Craftable Horse Armor ~~
You can’t have a datapack centered around renewability without craftable horse armor! Leather horse armor is already craftable, so this datapack adds recipes for the other three types of horse armor: iron, gold and diamond. You can craft it by making an H shape in the crafting table using the material you want, just like leather horse armor does. I decided to make saddles uncraftable, since they’re already renewable through other means (villager trading, fishing and ravagers) and it also makes finding one more special.

~~ Craftable Notch Apple ~~
Another classic recipe, just surround an apple with blocks of gold to make the legendary Notch Apple, or if you’re that kind of person, an enchanted golden apple. I feel like it’s not quite expensive enough since gold farms are very easy to make and produce a ton of gold, so how could I improve it?

~~ Craftable Cobweb ~~
Here’s a very simple one, just cover the crafting table with string to make a cobweb. I still don’t get why they’re not already craftable or at least renewable.

~~ Craftable Gravel ~~
Very simple one once again, you can now make gravel from four flint in a square shape. That way, you can unclutter your inventory after a long mining trip and get back that sweet, sweet gravel.

~~ Craftable Lily Pads ~~
These are already renewable through fishing, but now you can craft them using kelp in a chestplate shape. Kelp is so abundant, and now it finally has a use that isn’t fuel! To be fair though, lily pads aren’t much more useful and the recipe makes no sense, but we don’t talk about that.

~~ Rotten Flesh to Leather ~~
If you’re not a fan of killing cows but still want that perfect enchantment room, you can now kill zombies instead and smelt their rotten flesh into leather. Does it make sense? No. Is it useful? Yep.

~~ Craftable Spore Blossom ~~
I geniunely do not understand why spore blossom are not renewable. They’re plants, they should be able to reproduce themselves. Now, you can make them from a flowering azalea surrounded by four big dripleaves. No more tearing down lush caves for your next nature build!

~~ Craftable Red Sand ~~
It’s already renewable through wandering traders, but those suck, so now you can craft it using redstone surrounded by 8 sand. However, you can only dye the sand, not the sandstone.Sand is also only renewable through wandering traders, but this datapack also fixes that. You’ll learn about it a little lower.

~~ Unpackable Ice and Nether Wart Blocks ~~
You can unpack blue ice, packed ice and nether wart blocks into 9 packed ice, 9 ice and 9 nether warts, respectively.

~~ New Mob Drops ~~

~~ Piglins Drop Ancient Debris ~~
Don’t worry, it’s not overpowered! It has an incredibly rare chance to drop it, only 0.02% to be exact. This means that only one in around 5000 piglins will drop one ancient debris. The primary way to obtain it is still mining, this is meant to be for when you have a huge piglin farm and mined all the ancient debris around.\

~~ Husks Drop Sand ~~

Do I really need to explain this one?

~~ Oak and Dark Oak Leaves Drop More Apples ~~
Instead of dropping one apple every 200 leaf blocks, it now drops one every 100.

And voilà! Now, bundles are now craftable, anvils are repairable and everything is renewable! Well, not quite everything, since I consider some items to be treasure items: items that you should only be able to find by exploring. Most of these items are some you only need a couple of anyway, and they’re not consumable so they really only run out if you you die and let them despawn or throw them in lava/cactus purposefully. So, here’s the full list!

– Snout Banner Pattern
– Disk Fragments and Music Disc 5
– Dragon Egg
– Dragon Head
– Elytra
– Swift Sneak gear/books (I want to make this renewable but have no idea how)
– Heart of the Sea
– Music Disc Otherside
– Music Disc Pigstep
– Sponges and Wet Sponges

If you have any suggestions, let me know and I might add them. And remember, feel free to add/remove/edit anything in this pack, it was made for me and therefore contains recipes/drops that I like that you may not. Also, unless Mojang changes the way datapacks work, this should work on any version starting 1.13, but there’s no guaratee as I won’t test older versions. Updates may take a while too, not because it’s hard to make, but because I may not have time to actually do it. That being said, enjoy (:
