Are you tired of maps that always are the same, no matter how you try to play it? Tired of easy maps, done after one go? I present, the world's first traditional Roguelike in Minecraft: Emerald Chambers!

Note: this map is really hard. You won't beat it in one go. But that's okay.

You have to keep trying, learning, dying… until one day…

you might actually win.

A turn-based, point-and-click adventure, a custom engine in the engine of Minecraft. Controls are simple: look to aim, right-click to select, drop to use utilities. All decisions can be made in any amount of time, but they are permanent, and will be erased on any mistake. Death is forever; die, and start all over again. No checkpoints, you have to do everything in one go. No mercy, enemies will always do their maximum best. It's truly nothing like you've ever seen; it has all the major roguelike criteria of the classic Berlin Interpretation, and almost all the minor ones, too! (I excluded "must be in ASCII" because… well, you know.)

You start in the lobby, pick a character, and descend into the dungeon… a fully randomly generated grid-based two-dimensional game full of dangers. Monsters, traps, bosses, evil statues, and shopkeepers willing to actually kill you at some point. But your arsenal, depending on luck, character and skill, is enormous.

Spells to cast on yourself, or on enemies. Potions to drink or throw. Scrolls to read and create massive game-changing effects. And all of these cannot be known what they do until you use them once! Be careful, you might drink a fire potion or throw away a healing one…

Weapons can be found, sold or created, but they might be cursed and you're stuck with them for a while. Armor can be smited, vital to survive, but expensive and risky. Tools can be retrieved, all with a variety of uses and backdraws. Nothing is free, everything has a price.

Will you find the end? Will you defeat your past, or even the Void itself, and emerge victorious? …or will you, like many others, perish under the pressure of enemies with bows, swords, axes, magic, lightning, bombs or teleportation..? The Dungeon decides.

  • 3 characters to play, all with different playstyles and backstory
  • 11 floors to test your agility
  • 19 bosses to test your patience… or luck
  • 20 weapons and 20 armor pieces that may or may not be cursed
  • 30 random magic items, only identified after use
  • 7 Statues, 10+ Utilities and some shopkeepers here and there
  • Many resources, tools, abilities and strategies to master
  • Stats to keep track of every death you witnessed
  • Cutscenes, all short, appear once, but re-watchable
  • Challenges for those who truly desire to seek challenges
  • While only one player can play, multiplayer-compatibility is a thing!

What are you waiting for?

This map is a sequel to Ruby Caverns, a roguelite dungeon crawler with the same idea but a different execution. It is a good map, but because I wanted the true Roguelike spirit, I decided to go further…
