Old Guns Mod (Forge) 

A mod that supplies a collection of antique firearms. Heavily inspired by Ye Olde Minegunner mod from the days of Minecraft Beta v1.2.

Overview

Old Guns brings a collection of mid-15th century to early 19th century black powder arms right to the front door of your dirt house:

• Tiered system of Matchlock, Wheellock, Flintlock, Caplock, and Needlefire firearms.
• Weapons such as Derringers, Pistols, Carbines, Muskets, Blunderbusses.
   
• Unconventional weapons like Duckfoot Pistols, Musketoons, Nock Guns, and other variants.

Most firearms are reloaded from the crafting menu. They aim and fire similarly to the Minecraft bow.

• Multi-barreled weapons allow you to spend time upfront reloading for more time shooting.
   
• Some multi-barreled weapons like the Duckfoot pistol and Nock Gun fire all their bullets at once… but still require reloading single rounds at a time.
   
• Breech-loading weapons allow a crossbow-esqe reload, and will consume ammo and powder straight from the players inventory.

The firearms are set up weight categories as well as the aforementioned tiers of mechanism tech:

• Light firearms like pistols can be dual-wielded, drawn fast, cheap, but lack the stopping power of larger pieces.
   
• Carbines and other mid-sized guns provide a good balance of draw time, cost, and power, but cannot be dual-wielded.
   
• Larger firearms are devastating, but have a long draw time and high cost. Some huge firearms might slow you down when moving.

The mechanism a firearm uses determines its resiliency to the elements.

• Matchlock weapons will not function in rain or water at all.
   
• Wheellock weapons will have a difficult time firing in rain, and will not work while in water.
   
• Flintlock weapons will have less trouble firing in the rain, but still will not work in water.
   
• Caplock weapons will have no trouble firing in the rain, and can somewhat work while in water.
   
• Needlefire weapons will fire in all conditions.

Firearms need to be taken care of! You don't want to lose a finger.

• All weapons have a condition, which is based on their durability.
   
• Weapons in fair condition or lower will have a chance to misfire.
   
• Weapons in poor condition or lower will have a chance to explode in your hand.
   
• Repair kits are craftable, and can be combined with a firearm in your crafting menu to repair them by 25%.

Exotic weapons are powerful, but their design notes (read: blueprints) must be found in dungeons.

• Weapons like the Duckfoot pistol and Nock Gun cannot be crafted. They are exotic firearms.
   
• Exotic weapon design notes are found in dungeon chests.
   
• Config options exist that can enable exotic design notes and stop them from spawning in dungeon loot.

A collection of antique firearms. Heavily inspired by Ye Olde Minegunner mod way back in b1.2. Smelt bullets and craft parts to create guns, including varieties such as:

*Matchlock Derringers,

*Matchlock Blunderbusses,

*Flintlock Pistols,

*Flintlock Muskets,

*Flintlock Rifles,

*Flintlock Blunderbusses,

*Caplock Revolvers,

*Breech-loading guns,

*Cannons,

*and more to come!

Details:

*Loading a gun in the crafting grid will return a loaded gun, able to be fired once before having to load again. Better bring some more guns along  with you. Multi-shot weapons need to be reloaded again untill all barrels are full.

*All flintlocks and matchlocks have trouble in the rain and water, just like the real deal! Guns will not fire while standing in water, matchlocks won't  fire in the rain, and flintlocks in rain have a small chance to misfire. Caplocks laugh at rain and water.

*Matchlock weapons are cheap to produce making them the lowest quality out of the types. However, they do not require iron like their stronger  counterparts, using stone/wood parts and gravel as ammo or shot instead.

*Breech-loading weapons are acquired through converting normal flintlock muskets/rifles via a hacksaw and a breech block. Hold right-click to load the gun, release when the hammer is pulled back. You need the appropriate gunpowder and bullets in your inventory to load.

*Cannons can be rotated with an empty hand, and picked-up while shift-right clicking. A guide to artillery can be crafted with a book and gunpowder.

*Fine Gunpowder must be used for higher quality weapons, like the flintlock rifle, and caplock weapons. Finer gunpowder burns better and faster.

*This mod is enhanced if paired with another mod that adds stronger creatures, as flintlock weapons make short work of vanilla mobs (That is, if  you can hit them).

*Gun descriptions are included in the .zip along with the mod jar which is in a 'mods' folder, along with a recipes image.

*For servers, this works as a server mods .jar and can go in the mods folder. Let me know if you have any trouble with SMP use.
