Discord- Villager Life
There’s a lot in this mod (and a lot of bugs too) so i’ll try to only go over the important parts.
Genetics
So in this mod there are Dominate (visible) and recessive (non-visible) genes. As of now only dominant genetics get passes on to offspring and recessive genes get randomized on adulthood. There are at the moment 3 recessive genes which are Vitiligo, Albinism, Ginger. The names should be pretty self explanatory but how they are present in villagers is different. (As to not make genetics too complicated instead of giving every type of villager an albino, vitiligo or ginger variation I just used some common circumstances where these genes are present. For example: Anyone of any phenotype can get albinism or vitiligo, but since these conditions are more visible and are usually seen more frequently in the media on black people I have limited the conditions (for now) to black villagers. However the ginger gene effects a lot more villagers, (right now) the ginger gene effects black villagers, black/native + white villagers, white villagers and black + native villagers. There will be more to come once I tweak the breeding system to make it more simple. So i’ll say it again, genetics. are. not. done.
Personalities
As with genetics this is still a Work In Progress. So far there’s 7 personalities and 3 traits. The personalities are Aggressive, Animal Lover, Nature Lover, Always Happy, Always Sad, Anxious and Hyper. The 3 traits and Nurturing, Hates Children and Twins. These traits mostly affect breeding but will also affect day to day interactions. (personalities are given to adult villagers except for the hyper personality.) Villagers with The Aggressive trait love fighting and become happy and gain buffs when attacked. Animal Lovers become happy around animals and have a chance to tame wolves and cats when around them. Nature Lovers become very happy out in the open and when next to crops they may bone meal them. Always Happy villagers are…always happy and don’t get along well with villagers who are always sad. Always Sad villagers are… always sad and get mad when around happy villagers. Anxious villagers get stressed when around other entities, and happy when alone. Hyper villagers are just fast and move around a lot. Flirty villagers will get flirty a lot more often and when around other villagers can get them flirty too. Artistic Villagers love art and love being around it, being in a close proximity to painting makes them happy. Bookworm villagers love reading and can read their negative emotions away. Villagers with the Nurturing trait love kids, they love being around them and having them. They can be depressed for the rest of their life if they can no longer have them. Villagers with the Hate Children trait, well, hate children. They can get nervous and mad around them and don’t like being able to have them. Female villagers with the Twins trait have a 100% chance of giving birth to twins. There are more personalities to come.
Emotions
There are 9 emotions and 2 effects that affect a villagers emotions. The 9 emotions are Overjoyed, Happy, Neutral, Sad, Miserable, Mad, Furious, Stressed and Flirty. The 2 effects are Depressed and Moody. Overjoyed villagers will gain speed and jump boost, Miserable villagers will become slow and cry. Furious villagers will spawn hurt villager particles and have a very slim chance of spontaneously combusting and dying :D. Flirty villagers will spawn heart particles and become “happy” around other flirty villagers. Stressed villagers have no outward effects but for female villagers it can affect their fertility. Depressed villagers will gain occasional become miserable or mad. Moody villagers will have drastic mood swings from overjoyed to miserable to furious and flirty.
Sexes
For each type of villager adult, teen, child or baby, there is a Male and Female version which has its own buffs and drawbacks.
Female villagers have no specific buffs or drawbacks but are more important to keeping the villager population going and regenerate faster and more often than males.
Male villagers on the other hand do have some buffs and drawbacks. Fertile male villager (teens and adults) occasionally receive a positive boost (strength, speed, regeneration or resistance) this is called testosterone ( which is a real thing, and was implemented in the mod because male villagers have very short life spans in the wild due to fighting monsters) and they do fight back when attacked. Unlike female villagers their main interaction is fighting and is also comes with its drawbacks (other than dying). If a male villager’s health get too low they will be…rendered infertile… (Male villagers can also be ridden)
Anatomy
This section will be a little vague because these features are still being expanded and worked on so far though I have made the basics of what the part of the mod will be. using a scalpel and either giving the villager a weakness effect or just cutting into them un-numbed (which will hurt them) will open a gui that contains that villagers organs. non-adult villagers will have their reproductive organs locked and unremovable. Adult villagers on the other hand can have any of their organs removed including reproductive organs. Male villagers (non babies) reproductive part is called the Testicals and is in the bottom gui slot. Removing it will sterilize the villager causing them to be unable to breed and disabling the testosterone system (can also make some sad (ones that want to have kids)). Female villagers (non babies) reproductive part is called the Uterus and is also in the bottom gui slot. Some female villagers don’t like having this organ and being able to breed and have children ( Those with the “Hates Children” trait), others do (Those with the “Nurturing” trait), some don’t care. With female villagers their anatomy is constantly changing due to breeding and pregnancy. After a female villager breeds with a male villager she will be pregnant and when you look at her organs her reproductive parts will change depending on the trimester she in, but when she goes into labor instead of a uterus or growing fetus in the bottom slot there will be a fully grown baby that can be removed (c-section) and instantly birth the child (beware this can cause infertility). Removing the uterus during pregnancy will cause infertility and terminate the pregnancy. Removing the brain will cause that villager go brain dead and eventually turn into a zombie. Removing the heart will cause the villager quickly wither away. Removing the lungs will suffocate the villager because, ya know, no lungs, no air…death. Removing one kidney will not kill the villager but will possibly give them high blood pressure and can lead to heart failure which will kill them. Removing both kidneys will kill the villager (Uremia). Removing the liver will poison the villager and eventually kill them. Removing the stomach will give the villager permanent hunger and possibly killing them. Removing the intestines/disemboweling the villager will cause the villager to suffer and take continuous damage and eventually die. Removing the left lower bone will give the villager weakness and mining fatigue (This bone represents the arms) this bone will regrow after 20 or so minutes. Removing the right lower bone will give the villager slowness (This bone represents the legs) this bone will also regrow after 20 or so minutes.
Breeding
Breeding in itself it pretty simple but what it take to get there is pretty complicated. Female villagers that didn’t grow from a child have a 1 in 10 chance of being infertile. If their not infertile they will have a menstrual cycle. on spawning as an adult there will be a 8 minute break where nothing special happens but after that 8 minutes is up she will ovulate and if in a 4 block radius of a fertile male villager, she will become pregnant. If in the 40 second window of fertility she doesn’t become pregnant she will menstruate for 3 minutes (taking random damage, regenerating, bleeding, mood swings etc) and then the cycle will start over. Back to pregnancy, she will be pregnant for 10 minutes and be in labor for 2. During the pregnancy she will go through different trimesters, grow a belly, get negative effects and then give birth. During the pregnancy if her health gets low she will miscarry. (There is also a potion that you can brew to abort the fetus which in some cases can cause infertility. Some female villagers would be happy to stop the pregnancy others would be depressed for days. During labor she will take damage 4 times (contractions) then give birth. depending on her personality she may get different postpartum problems. Generally they will most likely get postpartum depression, possibly break their legs or develop high blood pressure….or die. Each baby will deal 7 damage to the mother. There is a 9% chance of having twins if she doesn’t have the twins trait. (Babies have a 10% chance of spontaneously dying when born) After birth she will get the lactation effect which if you right click on her with a baby bottle you can you the full bottle to age up the newborn. this effect last for about 2 minutes. each baby will come with a placenta. The placenta can be cooked, eaten raw which will poison you and give your string or brew it with magma cream and get a potion of lactation. (The placenta is meat so it can also be fed to dogs etc.) After the birth her menstrual cycle will start over.
Ageing
Starting from birth a baby will grow up after 8000 ticks have passed (6 minutes). (This time can be altered if you feed the baby milk from a bottle, each bottle ages the baby by 1000 ticks) A child will grow after 12000 ticks (10 minutes). A teen will grow into an adult after 20000 ticks (16 minutes). An adults full life span is 200000 ticks (2 hours and 46 minutes). After 180000 ticks (2 hours and 30 minutes) they will become elders and become infertile and slow. Female villagers will go through menopause (Set on fire for 3 seconds and becoming infertile) and male villagers will just become infertile.
Miscellaneous
- Crafting an empty baby bottle with a milk bucket will fill the baby bottle and empty the bucket (If you want to nurse a baby on your own).
- Brewing a heart with nether wart will make a Super Healing Potion
- Brewing a raw fish with a spider eye will make an abortive potion.
- Crafting all the human organs( A Brain, Lungs, A Heart, 1 Kidney, A Stomach, Intestines, A Liver, A Uterus and Testicals) will give you a regular villager spawn egg.
- Making an IUD and right clicking a on a female villager will temporarily render her infertile which will make some villagers happy and other…not so much.
