Description
Updated the license so anyone now can edit and redistribute the pack as they want.
(Also please try and come up with a fix for the total eclipse problem. I'm officially out of Ideas on how to make them work properly. This doesn't mean development has stopped, it just means that I no longer have any Ideas for that one feature and would like others to experiment with it. Maybe they'll find a way, maybe they won't. But it's better than the feature never getting finished.
Other features from the list will be added as planned.)
Stargazer is a resource pack for minecraft 1.16 and up that adds various Objects
to the otherwise empty night sky of minecraft.
If you want to backport the pack, it works fine as long as your chosen optifine version supports custom skyboxes. For that, simply exchange the texturepack version number in pack.mcmeta.
I will not do backports since the pack is not that popular in older versions anyways. However, the license says you are free to do that, as long as you don't redistribute the pack as your own.
(Example: To backport it to 1.8, change the number to a 1.)
This pack requires optifine.
Included in the pack:
Already finished:
—
Stargazer 16² 1.0
-A comet that appears and disappears periodically. (Appears for 20 days each 400 days)
-Shooting stars that can appear randomly at night
-Custom star textures that are more like the real life sky, but still somewhat remind of minecraft
-4 Planets, 2 of wich will sometimes pass in front of the sun during daytime causing solar transits
-Solar eclipses (No totals sadly due to limitations. Its got the next best thing though, annular eclipses)
—
Stargazer 16² 1.1
Work in progress:
To do list for 1.17 release (Stargazer 16² 1.1):
-Total eclipses darken the sky (very complicated, lots of math required. Feel free to give this a shot yourself. Its a hard problem to solve)
-Hand tools for measuring based on the telescope (complicated, 3d models required)
-Hand tools for measuring based on other tools (complicated, 3d models required)
-Tweaks to the moon shadow and planet orbits. (simple)
-New constellations depicting the mobs of minecraft (simple, just texture changes)
-Depending on mojangs implementation of Astronomy via the telescope: Adjustments to skybox and events (Unknown)
-Another comet has been knocked from the far off asteroid belts and now can be rarely seen during the night sky. (Very simple)
-Fixes to the shooting stars. More shooting stars, more meteorite showers, though rarely. (Very simple)

I created this pack alone during the 2020 pandemic. Quite funny where spare time and some random Idea leads one. But that's not where this journey ends. More is planned!
